Founder & Lead Advisor

Robert Boeck

I work the half of financial planning most advisors leave alone: the part where the saving stops and the money has to start paying you.

About four out of five financial advisors work the accumulation side. They grow your money, and many of them do it well. Far fewer work the distribution side, where the question changes from how much you have to how much you can safely take, in what order, and what each choice costs you in tax.

I do the second one. My team handles investment management, and I stay on income, tax sequencing and timing. That division is the point rather than a limitation. A 2026 study by The American College of Financial Services found that two out of three advisors list retirement income planning among their top three services, and that nearly six in ten of those advisors demonstrate only a basic or intermediate level of expertise in it. Saying you do this work and being good at it are different things.

Why I started Retirement Roadmap Experts

I started Retirement Roadmap Experts around a conviction I'd watched play out for two decades: the financial industry is built for accumulation, and the people who need help most are the ones who've already done that part.

My work begins where most advisors' work ends. For couples two to eight years from retirement, the decisions that matter most aren't about picking investments. They're about tax sequencing across account types, Roth conversion timing in the low-bracket window between retirement and Required Minimum Distributions, withdrawal order, when each spouse claims Social Security, and how income holds up in a market that doesn't cooperate early. Those decisions interact. Made in isolation, they tend to work against each other. Made together, against the same assumptions and on the same timeline, they compound.

Every engagement produces the same three artifacts: a written retirement income plan, a multi-decade tax projection, and a coordinated Social Security and Roth conversion sequence, for both of you.

The five phases that produce those three documents are on the process page. None of it depends on a product. I have nothing to sell you on a first call, and the call is free.

Who I work with

Pre-retirees aged 50 and older, most within two to eight years of their retirement date, with $750,000 or more in retirement assets. Many are senior executives or high-income professionals carrying deferred compensation, company equity, or both. Most already have an advisor. What they usually cannot do is tell me their monthly retirement income number, and that gap is the reason they call.

If you want the detail specific to your situation, start with couples nearing retirement or public-company executives.

Where to find me

I publish short videos and podcast conversations on YouTube, write on LinkedIn, and keep the written versions here in the video library and on the blog. My book, From Accumulation to Income, is a guide to building a reliable, tax-smart retirement income strategy. Work happens by Zoom, so where you live does not limit who you can work with.

If you are two to eight years out and cannot name your monthly number yet, that is the normal place to start. Thirty minutes, by Zoom, both spouses, no pitch.
